Four Attempts

1st Attempt

This is my first attempt at a contents page.
Positives:
- The main image is very eye-catching
- The strip underneath the Masthead is also very effective in portraying what the magazine is about
- The text is clearly displayed
- Relevant page numbers

Negatives:
- An extra image needs to be added
- The page number needs to follow my chosen theme

Changes To The Contents Page

Changes To The Image On Contents Page

This shows how I have changed the images used and the layout of the text. Firstly I changed the image of the CD because I felt it wasn't relevant/appropriate to use on the contents page of my magazine. Also the image was very large and doesn't fit in with my Motown genre of music effectively. Secondly I decided to add in a box of text which is specific to the artist featured on the front cover of my magazine. The reason why I chose to do this is because it matched the main artist on the contents page so remained a key/main feature. Finally I changed the position of the text and image under 'Weekly Pic'. This is because it becomes a separate article which is quite commonly found in music magazines.

Changing The Main Image

This shows me changing my image on the contents page:

The Image Before
The image on the left was my original choice however the image on the right was more suited to my magazine. Therefore this image would work more effectively on my contents page.

Selecting The Main Image For The Contents Page

Selection
These are some of the images I selected from in order to use for my contents page:

After I decided on the image I was going to use for my contents page, I cut the image out in Photoshop (via the Polygon Lasso Tool) and added a coloured background. This wasn't effective in achieving an image which stood out so I kept the background plain.

Here I have compared how the front cover of a magazine matches the contents page. Unfortunatley the image on the contents page doesn't match the image which is featured on the front cover. Therefore for my contents page I will use the same artist which appeared on my front cover.
